A member of the New York City Public Design Commission suggested that the city tear down certain statues of men in Central Park and replace them with statues of prominent female historical figures, according to the New York Post.

Hank Willis Thomas, a painter who serves on the commission, was apparently referring to statues of Scottish poet Robert Burns and Christopher Columbus as he made remarks during a hearing at city hall.
