Data from the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene reveals that the majority of COVID-19 patients on New York City who died from the disease had at least one underlying health condition.

The data, released on Wednesday and encompassing events up until April 1, showed that at least 1,139 NYC patients who were treated for the coronavirus but eventually died had some sort of pre-existing condition. These included conditions such as lung disease, cancer, diabetes, heart disease and kidney disease.
