Obama-Backed Candidates Lose In Virginia

A majority of the Virginia legislative candidates endorsed by former President Barack Obama lost their respective elections on Tuesday, despite the Democrats flipping control of the General Assembly.

Obama, who now resides in the Washington, DC, neighborhood of Kalorama, officially endorsed 17 candidates running for office in Virginia. Six senatorial and 11 in the House of Delegates. Of the state Senate candidates, only two that received Obama's endorsement won. Of the 11 House of Delegates candidates backed by the former president, seven won their seats.
