At a press conference Thursday, President Donald Trump dropped his fight to include a citizenship question on the 2020 census, but ordered the Census Bureau to find out how many American residents are actually citizens.

President Trump, speaking from the White House, said he will issue an executive order to all federal agencies to to combine their existing data and send it to the Department of Commerce, who will then attempt to put together a count without having to include the question itself on the census.
