Richmond City Council passed a resolution Monday night asking the Virginia General Assembly to allow local governments to make decisions on the removal of Confederate statues.

The resolution, passed by a 6-2 vote, was introduced by Councilman Michael Jones (9th District) and would give the Richmond City Council authority to remove the city's Confederate monuments if passed by the General Assembly.

ABC8 reporter Nick Conigliaro joined Jeff on Tuesday to discuss the vote.
