London Mayor Sadiq Khan is imploring residents to stay off the London Underground (also known as the London Tube) less than a month after he said that traveling on the train presented "no risk."

During a March 3 interview with "Good Morning Britain," host Susanna Reid asked Khan, "Can you see a situation in which a sort of metaphorical ring of steel is put around London in order not to spread the virus, in the same way that we’ve seen has happened in Wuhan in China?"

Khan told her that he could not see a situation like that in the U.K. and claimed there was a plan to help contain the spread of the virus.

When Reid pressed him on possibly asking citizens to stop using public transportation, Khan responded, "What we need to do as politicians is to rely upon the best advice we have from the public health experts and from the Chief Medical Officer - there is no risk in using the Tube or buses or other forms of public transport, or going to a concert."
