Harris County Deputy Sheriff Sandeep Dhaliwal was murdered on Friday by a convicted criminal who was in violation of his parole.

Deputy Dhaliwal had stopped 47-year-old Robert Solis for a minor traffic violation. According to reports, Solis followed the deputy back to his patrol car and shot him twice, killing him instantly.

In a piece for CNN, our friend Jimmy Gagliano remembers the fallen officer and points out just why being a police officer in today's world is more dangerous then ever before.
