Shootings Surge in New York City

Shootings skyrocketed in New York City last week following the New York Police Department (NYPD) disbanding its plainclothes anti-crime unit.

According to the New York Post, since June 15 - the day the unit was disbanded - there were 28 shooting incidents in the city with 38 victims reported in the city last week.

This is more than double the rate that occurred during the same time period in 2019, when there were only 12 shootings.

"This is what the politicians wanted," a law enforcement source told the Post. "No bail, nobody in Rikers, cops not arresting anyone."

The source added, "All those things equal people walking around on the street with guns, shooting each other."
