Secretary of the Treasury Steve Mnuchin said on Thursday that he had moved up the timing of individual payments to Americans from three weeks to two weeks.

Mnuchin said at the White House coronavirus task force briefing, "I’m pleased to report that within two weeks the first payments will be directly deposited into taxpayers’ accounts."

He added that those who have direct deposit information on file already with the IRS will receive their coronavirus stimulus checks in a timely fashion. Those who do not have that information on file could enter it into a website to ensure they get their money quickly as well. Mnuchin called that process a "very large priority."

Taxpayers who made less than $75,000 in 2019 will receive $1,200. Couples who filed jointly and made less than $150,000 will receive $2,400. And every child in the house will also receive an additional $500.
