A major coronavirus model has drastically lowered its estimates of how many people would die in the United States from the novel virus.

According to Fox News, the University of Washington's Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) has lowered its projections of total deaths in the U.S. from 68,841 to just over 60,308. The institute says that the new numbers are due partly to higher estimates in states like New York and New Jersey and lower estimates in states like Massachusetts and Florida.
