The current number of people who have been hospitalized due to the coronavirus in the U.S. is reportedly much lower than what many health experts predicted only days ago.

During a press briefing on Monday, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said that in his state - which quickly became the nationwide leader in cases - has seen the total number of hospitalizations drop 75 percent in the span of just three days from April 2 to April 5.

Jim Malatras, an aide for Gov. Cuomo, also said that new projections are showing New York will need far fewer than the original number of 110,000 hospital beds that was predicted. The new numbers indicate it will be closer to 20,000-30,000.
