Marshall Burns, a 73-year-old white professor, is suing a historically black university for racial and age discrimination after claiming the school has denied him his proper salary, according to Fox News.

Burns began his career as an assistant physics professor at Tuskegee University in Alabama in 1976. He was promoted to a full-time position in 1980 and he claims that the school pays younger professors at between $18,000 to $30,000 more than him, despite his tenure. He says he has asked for a raise at least 12 times and that his salary is the same as an associate professor.

In his lawsuit, Burns also claims that professors at the university of African or Asian descent earn more than he does, and he earned a PhD. in 1972.
